Patchy · Concept
Patchy is a palm-size desk buddy that talks with you, wakes you up, plays your music, and keeps your reminders. And it's the first robot that writes in your handwriting.
A part of you, on paper.
Midnight · Drag to spin
It knows where to write
Its camera spots printed text, questions, diagrams and boxes, and never writes over them.
Tap a highlighted blank spot, drag a box, or paint a "don't write here" area; or just tap the paper with your finger.
A tiny laser outlines exactly where it will write, and it waits for your "yes".
Scan a form once and Patchy remembers its fields.
Safe on any desk
Stop it before it reaches the edge of the table.
Sees walls, cups and laptops in its way.
Lift it and it stops instantly.
Maps your desk in one slow lap so it always finds its way back to its charging pad.
How it works
Write one sample page, or use old letters if you can no longer write.
By voice or in the app.
Where it will write, the size and color, and asks before starting.
Sitting at the edge of the page so it never crumples the paper.
Features
With tiny natural differences so no two letters match.
Stays off the paper and tucks its wheels in.
Asks before it writes or draws, and only draws on blank paper.
Finds lines, boxes and empty space, never writes over printed text.
Simple, for older users and shaky hands.
Pens, pencils and colors in a universal holder.
First, with more languages later.
Say "remind me to email my teacher" and it writes the sticky note in your handwriting.
Someone you love types a message in the app and your Patchy writes it out by hand.
And never copies signatures.
A desk companion
Ask it anything by voice. It answers through its speaker and asks what you'd like it to do.
Wakes you up with a gentle sound and a sunrise animation on its face.
Small enough to carry from desk to kitchen table to classroom.
It asks where to write before it starts, and only now and then asks if it can draw you something.
Its eyes show curious, happy, focused, sleepy, surprised, thinking, proud and low-battery.
Edge sensors underneath stop it before it reaches the edge of a desk or table, and it goes back to its charging pad to sleep when its battery is low.
Who it's for
Send a card without the pain or the shake.
Keep writing in your own hand while you heal.
Notes and forms that look like you wrote them.
Speak, and Patchy writes slowly and clearly.
Handwriting sample
Dear Grandma,
thank you for the flowers.
Love you!
Who's behind it
Patchy started with one observation: the people who find writing hardest are usually the ones who most want to do it — a card for a grandchild, a thank-you note, a form at the doctor's office. The handwriting is the part that carries you. A typed card does not.
So we are building a small machine that gives that part back. It learns your hand from one sample page, or from letters written years ago, and then writes with your own pen on your own paper.
Right now Patchy is a concept in development. There is no factory, no ship date and nothing to buy. What there is: a design, a working plan, and a list of people who want one when it is ready.
We tell the waitlist first — prototype videos, what works, what does not, and when preorders open. If you would rather talk to a person, email hello@meetpatchy.com and we will write back.
